I launched the One Scene dating service back in May 2012. I’m a gay man and I’m really passionate about about the LGBTQ community. My goal for One Scene has always been to create a welcoming & accepting place for everyone in the LGBTQ community to find friends or love. We’ve accomplished parts of this goal but I know there is still more to do. We need to make sure that our apps better support people who identify as non-binary. We also need to better support the transgender community by giving them more options to include or exclude information from their profile. We’re slowly taking steps towards becoming the dating community that we’ve always been striving to be, one that is totally inclusive to everyone in the LGBTQ community. The latest step we’re taking is by launching this blog. The motivations behind this are:

  • We want to open a 2 way communication channel with you, our lovely members. We want to hear your feedback and thoughts
  • We want to give you a behind the scenes look at how we work and who we are
  • We want to share our latest and upcoming developments and challenges with you
  • We want to offer interesting articles that include content with a wider scope than just dating and we want to cover a variety of topics that affect the LGBTQ community
  • We want to offer a voice to contributors and aspiring journalists, our blog can double up as a platform for them to get their voice heard

I’m really excited about the future of One Scene. We’re launching a brand new web app in the near future (keep watching the blog for more information on this) and soon after that we will be launching native Android & native iPhone apps. As mentioned at the start of this article we have plans to improve the way our service handles genders. We’ve also made good inroads in improving our support systems and we’ve managed to get our customer support response time down to under 24 hours. Our moderation team are now working around the clock to make One Scene a really safe environment for people to meet.

None of what we’ve achieved so far would be possible without the fantastic team behind One Scene. We’re all working so hard to build something great here. I look forward to bringing you along on our journey via the new One Scene blog.
